I was born in Bedlington in 1957. The son of a Miner, my dad stuck me
in Netherton Band at the tender age of 9 years! I couldn't get to
grips with what seemed to be rocket science so, instead of attending
practices, I would spend my bus fare on fags and go and play footie.
This was handy as I used my cornet as a goal post and the case as the
other goal post. Joined Pegswood in 1988, when I took up the Bass
and had some great times in a very young band. As what seems to happen
in Northumberland in the nineties, numbers dwindled so I joined
Ashington in 1995 which in contrast to Pegswood were a very mature
band to say the least. Fortunes change and at this time the band is
flourishing under the guidance of Nigel who has attracted some good
fresh blood and put bums on seats.I've got to say I'm loving every
minute of practising, contests and the social side and the band is
really pulling together as a unit.
If you want to know what I look like see the front page and above, good looking
or what!
