I Began playing cornet at an early age under the guidance of
my father William Cameron and became a registered player with the Pegswood
Colliery Band in 1961 on 3rd Cornet.
I worked my way up the ranks until finally I
reached the Principal Cornet seat. The highlight in this position was
winning the CISWO finals at Blackpool in 1974.
On the return of my brother, Ian, to the band,
I relinquished the hot seat and soon after moved to Flugel Horn.
In 1980 I transferred to Ahington Colliery
Band with husband Trevor (Bb Bass) and brothers Ian and Brian (Both cornet
players).
I now play 2nd cornet and look to the future
on a positive note.
